11/3/19 – For the fourth time in the past six years, the Lake Mary Prep Varsity Girls Golf Team is the 1A State Champion!

The girls played their very best golf of the season on the pressure-packed closing holes of the final round Saturday at Mission Inn to rally past powerhouse The First Academy, winning by seven shots. The two top teams in all of Florida were neck-and-neck throughout the emotional two-day tournament. They were tied at one-under-par after round one, and then the rollercoaster ride began in earnest. LMP went up early in the second round before TFA took charge in the middle part of the round and appeared to be headed for their third straight state championship. But the Lady Griffins played their best golf of the season when it mattered most. Karoline Tuttle
started it off with a birdie on 15, and then drove the green on the par 4 16 th for another birdie. Iris Wang chipped in for an eagle on 16, then hit her approach to three feet for another birdie on 18. Ellen Dong made a crucial birdie on 16. Mimi Chen finished her final high school round with
three clutch pars, and Victoria Zheng made her third birdie of the back nine on No. 18 to finish off the charge. Collectively, the Lady Griffins played the final three holes in an amazing 7-under-par.

When the fireworks were over, LMP had recorded scores of 287-288 for a two-day total of one-under-par 575, the third lowest team score in FHSAA history. That was good for a seven-shot victory over TFA.

Individually, Karoline finished third with scores of 72-68-140. Iris was fourth overall (71-70-141). Other scores were Ellen Dong (73-70-143), Victoria (71-80-151) and Mimi (82-81-163).

Congratulations ladies!!
