Gavin makes First Team All-State 3A

Lake Mary Prep prolific senior Michael Gavin and Orlando Christian Prep junior Eric Butler are first-team Class 3A all-state boys basketball players as picked by Source Hoops and the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches. Gavin was voted Florida Dairy Farmers 3A Player of the Year after averaging 27.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He scored 60 points in a 100-75 victory over Forest Lake in a January stretch in which he averaged 49.7 points over three games.

Lake Mary Prep coach Marty Priest said Gavin was on a recruiting visit to NCAA Division II University of Tampa on Tuesday. He also has interest from Southeastern University of Lakeland and Ocala’s two-year College of Central Florida.

The 2018-19 all-state teams are compiled by Source Hoops based on in-person evaluations, a review of all-area teams selected by media from around the state, and recognition from the FABC. This years’ Class 3A team as announced by the Orlando Sentinel is:
