10/14/17 – Lake Mary prep Senior Jennifer Zhou made the most of her final high school competition this weekend by winning the Individual Championship in the prestigious Honda Classic High School Invitational at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. Jennifer recorded rounds of 72 and 69 on the Fazio Course, for a 3-under- par total of 141, good enough for a one-shot victory. Jennifer will be competing in an LPGA Tour tournament in China during the week of the State 1A Championship, so she will not be participating with the Lady Griffins in the post-season. We wish her all the best, and thank her for another great season for LMP.

As a team, the Griffins finished in a tie for sixth in the powerful field of 15 teams. Other LMP scores were: Ellen Dong, 77-73—150; Mary Ma, 78-79—157; Hella Zhou, 84-84—168. The Griffins were without two of their top players. Defending state champion Mimi Chen was competing in the regional finals of the National Drive, Chip & Putt competition, and Senior Captain and regular-season leading scorer Amy Zhang was competing in a big AJGA tournament in Connecticut. LMP begins the quest for its fourth straight 1A State Championship this Tuesday by hosting the District 9 tournament at Timacuan Golf & Country Club starting at Noon. Check out Orlando Sentinel’s coverage of the 2017 Honda Classic in South Florida this weekend! Congratulations to Jennifer Zhou for winning the individual championship. Overall, LMP girls finished 6th.
