6/14/17 – Mimi Chen was presented with two awards at the 19th Annual Orlando Sentinel Sports Banquet on Wednesday, June 14th at the Citrus Bowl. The field of student-athletes included seventy Central Florida High schools from six different counties, and Mimi was selected as the Female Breakthrough Athlete of the Year as well as Female Golfer of the Year. Griffin Nation is proud of you Mimi!

5/7/17 – The seventh Annual GRFY’s Varsity Sports Banquet took place Sunday night at the Lake Mary Westin where over 125 student-athletes were in attendance. The ceremony opened with Justin Varitek thanking the administration, coaches, parents, and student-athletes for an outstanding year in Griffin athletics, and went on to honor twenty-one teams in fifteen sports. Congratulations to the recipients of the following awards:

  • Athlete of the Year: Syriah Lottimore & Nick Lakso
  • Griffin Award: Sarah Wisherd & Matt Upper
  • Sportsmanship Award: Lauren Upper & Jack Krim
  • Scholar-Athlete: Caroline Zonts & Petar Nikolic

Track & Field is State Bound!

5/5/17 – We are cheering on our Griffins as they compete in the State Championships today and tomorrow at IMG Academy! Our relay team of Jason Gaston, Blaize Darling, Nick Lakso, and Cam Desch finished 4th in the region in the 4×400 (3:33.09a) and will compete tomorrow night.

Several of our athletes’ top-10 Regional placements have also earned them a spot in the state tournament. Congrats to the following on their individual performances last week, and good luck to those competing this weekend:

Syriah Lottimore:
2nd place – 100 m (12.66a (-.9)
4th place – 200m (26.14a PR (1.4)
3rd place – long jump (5.05m)

Jason Gaston:
1st place – 400m (50.72a PR)
4th place – 800m (2:05.35a)

Blaize Darling:
6th place – 400m (52.11a PR)
7th place – long jump (5.77m)

Maddy Burney:
7th place – 4kg shot put (9.07m)

Austin DeWitt:
10th place – 1.6kg discus (33.11m)

5/3/17 – Honored as one of Sun Belt Conference’s Athletes of the Week, LMP alum Abby Hani is closing out a strong senior season in Track and Field at Texas State. Hani had a busy weekend competing in six events in her final home meet of her collegiate career.

Next up for Texas State is the SBC Outdoor Championships that will be held at Maverick Stadium on the campus of UTA from May 12-14. Keep up with Abby online at or on Twitter @TxStateTrack.

The senior set a personal best in the long jump with a leap of 6.28m (20-7.25). It is the second best jump in the SBC this year and ranks fifth in school history. Other field events she competed in were the javelin throw (22.22m; 72-11) and shot put (11.06m; 36-3.5) in preparation for the heptathlon at the conference championships.

The Lake Mary, Florida native also ran in the 200m, 100m hurdles and a leg in the 4×100m relay. She set personal bests in the 200m (24.45) and 100m hurdles (13.95) with her hurdles mark ranking fifth in the league. Hani ran the anchor leg for the 4×100m relay post the fastest time in the SBC this season and the second all-time in Bobcat history in 45.01.



4/7/17 – We are proud to welcome Marty Priest as the new Varsity Boys Basketball Head Coach for the 2017-2018 season. After playing collegiately at St. Anselm College, and he went on to be a two time All-American and League MVP at Cazenovia College. He has since coached and assisted at Cazenovia High School, and has a strong passion for motivating young athletes to push through challenges and achieve their goals through hard work, focus, teamwork and integrity. Priest currently owns OneEW Fitness with his wife Elisabeth, and comes to LMP with an extensive background in athletics, fitness, and nutrition. We look forward to him joining the LMP community!
